Regardless of your career stage, you could benefit immensely from our Mentoring scheme
At some point in our careers, many of us reach a crossroads. Whether you're planning to move jobs, considering a step into a new industry, or trying to develop a skill that feels unreachable, the right support can make a huge difference. A mentor brings experience, asks important questions, and empowers you to move forward with clarity and confidence.
We offer two mentoring streams, which allow us to support different needs and different career stages.
The mentoring scheme
This matches early-career solicitors – from trainees to those with up to five years post-qualification experience – with law students and graduates seeking support during their studies and traineeship search. Drawing on their recent experience of both studies and recruitment processes, mentors give practical advice and peer-to-peer insight.
Our objectives are to support mentees to:
- Discover key routes, requirements, and assumptions for legal studies and traineeship recruitment
- Interpret traineeship application processes using insights from early‑career solicitors’ recent experiences
- Implement mentor feedback to strengthen career development and application strategies
Career development stream
Launched as a pilot in 2013, this is a core part of the professional support we offer. It is open to anyone looking to progress their career, including students, graduates, trainees, accredited paralegals, and solicitors at any stage of their professional journey.
Our objectives are to help mentees:
- Articulate goals and manage their career development
- Acquire insight into different opportunities, roles, and career paths
- Improve confidence and take responsibility for their own skills and career development
A mentoring relationship lasts for a period of approximately 12 months, although there are no hard and fast rules. It's more about ensuring that where appropriate, the mentoring goals have been met and at this time, the pairing will come to a natural end. We usually recommend pairs meet face to face about once a month.
